So Much Stuff!
Where Do I Begin (Love Story 1970)? (Andy Williams’ Greatest Hits is playing in the background)
So much stuff to go through, so many decisions to make. Decided to start with the easy part. A friend is helping me box up books. So far, we’re boxing those books to go to the new facility’s library. The ones for my personal library will box later, and the estate sale books stay on the shelves. DVDs and CDs will follow, then sheet music to go with the baby grand into their theater. Only 20 bank boxes loaded, who knows how many more to go?
A service for four (the Wedgwood and the Waechtersbach) will be next. Then hard decisions ensue.
Both apartments will be a total of 1682 square feet, but a great deal of that is dead space because they’re using double french and wide single doors, instead of pocket or sliding glass doors. The bedrooms will not hold a queen-size bed, unless that’s literally all one wants in the room. No way can I sleep for 2-3 months in a double bed with Mr. Lashes Out in His Sleep. The other bedroom will be holding office, musical instruments, and sewing/crochet gear, so no sleeping in there. I suppose an air mattress on the living room floor, and stand it up against a wall when not in use?
A lot of measuring and putzing with paper layouts will help me decide what furniture we can bring. The bedroom sizes are far more disappointing than I’d expected. It’s like they think only a single bed will be needed. I don’t do single beds; too narrow for how I sleep.
Meanwhile, the facility thought Rodney was talking about a tiny model railroad layout, that they planned on putting in one of the common rooms. His layout is modular, but it’s huge. He’s rethinking whether or not to bring it at all. Not sure about the woodworking shop — corporate may decide it’s too “risky.” Ok, it can always go into the estate sale.
I’ll put one sewing machine in the arts and crafts room, keep the other one, and decide what else to donate there. I’m keeping quite a lot of the yarn initially. May take some down there as I rethink crochet projects.
As for writing, yeah, this is about the best I can manage lately. Hoping to get seriously back into writing once we’re in the new location, where I’m not responsible for all the chores.
Later, y’all.

Thanks for sharing, RK, and good luck to all y'all with your move. 🤞
